About Gentry Music and Arts
Serving St George I Washington I Hurricane I Santa Clara UT
I was born and raised as an identical twin in St. George, Utah to a family of musicians on all 4 sides. At age 8, our father bought the family a brand new spinet piano and as soon as it hit our home I was playing on it night and day, and the rest, as they say, is history!
I graduated from Dixie College in the music program and later attended the University of Utah in the band, orchestra and education department on a full scholarship.
I accepted a job in my first music store, as the new store manager, at Bert Murdock Music in St. George and later opening my own music store, Gentry Music. I expanded too rapidly, with stores in Cedar City, Coloroado City and Mesquite, and eventually I closed.
I moved on to some great experiences developing teams in the music industry in Las Vegas and Texas and moved back to St. George, and through an offer from Young Chang Pianos, launched our new Gentry Music & Arts store in 2016, through the talent and expertise of my wife, Jackie, who is originally from the Dominican Republic.
Carmen "Jackie" Almonte Gentry
Owner - Artist
Born in Santo Domingo, Jackie felt the inclination for drawing and painting at an early age. She enrolled in the National School of Fine Arts (Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes – ENBA) to study arts, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Jackie’s art experience and degrees encompass an incredible breadth of advanced art designations, which make her highly qualified and gifted to teach a variety of art forms that go beyond what you would normally find at a commercial institution providing art services.
Jackie is available for art instruction in four disciplines, providing residents in St. George UT and surrounding communities with outstanding art instruction. Whether you are a beginner or someone who wants to sharpen existing skills, Jackie can provide you with the art instruction you want and need.
